Cyber controls promote business mission success

Implementing cyber and other internal controls can be challenging, especially when viewed as conflicting with budgets and business missions. In reality, the public expectation and industry best practices demand that cyber and internal controls are integrated into operations and are part of entity missions. Changing the dialog to embrace controls as part of the mission, and not an overlay, is the first “tone from the top” hurdle to successfully improving cyber readiness. In the event of an incident, the first questions that will be asked, “What did you do to prevent this from happening?” Therefore, flip the dialog from controls being an impediment to being part of the mission!
