Statement from the Office of the Comptroller on the close of Fiscal Year '19

Based on communications throughout the day with the Chairs of the House and Senate Ways and Means Committees, Comptroller Andrew Maylor has learned that substantial progress on a final supplemental appropriations bill has been made. The Comptroller has therefore agreed to temporarily suspend this afternoon’s planned transfer of $1.005 billion to the Commonwealth Stabilization Fund, and will refrain from closing the books of the Commonwealth at this time.

This suspension will allow for a reasonable accommodation for the House and Senate to hold floor votes on the final bill.

However, Comptroller Maylor remains prepared to transfer the surplus as soon as the morning of December 12, 2019 if clear progress towards final enactment is not made in the remainder of today’s session. The Office of the Comptroller continues to closely monitor the progress of the legislation.
