Don’t let fraudsters hack your Bluetooth
Bluetooth is great for your wireless devices, such as your keyboard, mouse, and headphones. Be cautious, however, when working in public places, since fraudsters can take advantage of your Bluetooth connections to scrape personal information.
ACTION STEPS:
- Don’t use Bluetooth in crowded locations when working, since fraudsters may be eavesdropping. The short range of Bluetooth connections means that hackers have to get close to your device. Crowded public places, like coffee shops, the subway and others where someone can be nearby for a long enough duration, are hotspots for hackers.
- Get in the habit of turning off Bluetooth when not in use. You don’t want your personal device to connect to any other mobile devices with Bluetooth enabled. If you have your Bluetooth connected, a hacker can take advantage if you’re not paying attention.
- Turn off location trackers on apps when not in use.
