Avoid Bluetooth in public

Graphic with a red pause button, a yellow check mark, and a green play button and the words pause, verify, report on the go underneath.

Bluetooth is great for connecting wireless devices such as headphones, a keyboard, mouse, and headphones. State employees should be cautious. Hackers roam in crowded locations like cafes, lobbies, conference rooms, trains, planes, and buses to eavesdrop through Bluetooth, stealing data and credentials. VPN (virtual private network) provides internet protection but does not protect Bluetooth connections.

 Action Step

If you are on the go and working away from your secure workstations, PAUSE and turn off Bluetooth if you are working in crowded areas. Using wired connections for your mouse, keyboard, headphones, and hotspots is always the safest option when working on the go.
