Beware of fake DocuSign and Adobe Acrobat Sign emails
While electronic signature platforms like DocuSign and Adobe Acrobat Sign can greatly improve departments’ efficiency, be on the lookout for copycat email scams that purport to be from these platforms.
ACTION ITEM: Update your internal controls to include a mandatory protocol to first verify any document requiring an e-signature, directly with the person supposedly sending it – by contacting that person with information you already have on file.
Always follow the approved Commonwealth electronic signature process – not options provided by a vendor. If you’re unsure, check first with your Chief Fiscal Officer for the approved options for electronic signatures.
