Ensuring Internal Control Readiness for Mosaic
With the go-live of Mosaic in late January, it’s time to consider what updates may be needed for your department’s written system of internal controls and your Internal Control Plan. Most policies will only require minor revisions, primarily updated names and terminology, while day-to-day operations are expected to remain largely consistent with current practices. Mosaic is an enhanced version of MMARS with similar functionality, but users will still need proper training on new functionality and system navigation.
One of the most important areas to focus on as you prepare your internal controls and daily operations is ensuring that staff have easy access to the new Mosaic training resources. Staff should use these materials in daily operation once the system goes live.

Your Internal Control Officer (ICO) should review your written system of internal controls to ensure it is current and supports these training compliance goals. Your ICO can also help verify that the department head is accurately certifying compliance in the annual Internal Control Certification.
