FBI warns about “juice jacking” from infected USB ports

The text "Cybersecurity Tip of the Week"

The FBI recently posted a reminder that bad actors continue to use public USB charging ports to introduce malware and monitoring software onto devices. So-called “juice jacking” malware can infect devices and steal credentials, log into banking apps, and access data, photos, and even money. Never plug your computer into a public USB port; and avoid using any USB cords or charging sticks you receive (even promotional giveaways) before having them scanned by your IT staff.

Action Step: Carry your own charger and USB cord, which will let opt for electrical outlets rather than USB ports.
