Notify CTR of External or Internal Audits
As part of the annual state financial and federal single state audits, the Commonwealth is required to update our external auditors of any new or ongoing audits, investigations or reviews by federal or state auditors/regulators, Inspectors General or investigators.
Departments must notify CTR when involved in external or internal audits or investigations, as well as any new or expanded audit findings from past or current audits. Report this information in Section 1 of the annual Internal Control Certification submitted by your department.
Action Steps
- Include policies for audits, audit follow-up, and department-initiated audit activities in your written system of Internal Controls. Have a process in place to notify your statewide key contacts, such as the Chief Fiscal Officer, General Counsel, and Internal Control Officer, of any audit or investigation. This ensures that appropriate leadership and fiscal attention and resources are assigned to the audit.
- Immediately notify CTR about any audit or investigation, or updates, by emailing [email protected]. This allows CTR to take appropriate steps to notify the external auditors.
