Safeguard your Laptop and Work Devices on the Go
State employees who travel or commute with Commonwealth-issued laptops and other work devices should take extra care to keep them secure. These devices are attractive targets for theft and can be used by fraudsters to attempt to access Commonwealth systems if they fall into the wrong hands.
Action Steps:
- Pause and verify. Before leaving any location or mode of transportation, make sure you have all Commonwealth-issued laptops, phones, and other work devices with you to avoid accidentally leaving them behind.
- Report lost or stolen devices immediately. Ensure staff know how to contact your designated IT support if a work device is lost or stolen. Prompt reporting allows IT to remotely wipe sensitive data, disable access, and increase the chances of recovering the device.
- Share “On the Go” reminders. Circulate the Pause Verify Report On the Go and Travel reminders with all staff to reinforce safe practices while traveling or commuting.
