Three steps to protect your credit and finances

cybersecurity tip of the week

With attempts at fraud increasing over the holidays, it is a good time to check your credit reports and protect your financial assets. To protect against such fraud attempts:

  1. Review your credit report and dispute any fraudulent transactions. You can request credit reports online from the three major credit reporting agencies – Equifax, Experian, and Transunion – or by calling (877) 322-8228.
  2. To prevent cyber criminals from opening credit card accounts or loans in your name, place a credit freeze with each of the three major credit reporting agencies. These can be unfrozen when you need to obtain credit.
  3. Change passwords on your email, banking, and other personal accounts a minimum of every six months with LONG and STRONG passwords/passphrases, and always take advantage of multi-factor authentication.
